Early Day Motions in Politics

Sue Gray’s “Partygate” report into the investigation of Boris et al’s activities and behaviour during the COVID-19 pandemic, has further exposed the continuous, depressingly poor treatment and stigma towards individual who work within the cleaning sector.

Furthermore, the government haven’t invested in any relief/support to the cleaning industry as a whole, which in itself is very revealing and telling.

A motion has been set in parliament to implement urgency to change the draconian, disrespectful attitudes and actions that affect the morale and well-being of Downing Street cleaning and security staff.

All government-led facilities should be paying London Living Wage at the very least and it does pee me off that it’s us not them - the micro and small businesses - that are making waves and great strides to offer the London living wage to our colleagues, despite our own challenges.

Rest in Peace Emanuel Gomez, “a cleaner at the Ministry of Justice headquarters employed by OCS continued to work despite having covid symptoms because OCS did not provide occupational sick pay and he tragically died.”

28 MP’s have signed in support to this motion and quelle surprise - none are from the current leading government.
